Diego has over 25 years of relevant financial experience and co-founded Quercus in 2010. Diego was initially responsible for overseeing the launch and investment of two development and construction led Quercus funds which invested in utility scale plants in the UK, Italy and Central and Eastern Europe.
He later launched three operationally focused Quercus funds and has been ever present in the sector over the past decade making Quercus one of the top 10 renewable energy specialist institutional investors in the European market.
Diego has executed over 50 transactions in the renewables space investing over Eur 1.3 billion. Notable transactions include the formation of ForVei, a JV that built one of the largest Italian PV solar portfolios, the ASI transaction carried out in conjunction with Swiss Life and issuing the largest and first of its kind Italian green bond to a number of major insurance companies in 2016, which was three times oversubscribed.
In 2019 Diego strategically exited the platform that Quercus built up over the previous decade through a transaction that embraced the largest pan European diversified portfolio of operating assets in that year.
In 2020 Diego started Quercus on a new chapter by putting together one of the largest European portfolios (over 800Mw) of permits to build PV solar plants in Spain, which continues to grow into other countries within Europe.
Prior to Quercus, Diego was an MD for Commerzbank and IMI in London, where he led due diligence on a variety of complex corporate finance and M&A transactions.
Diego holds a degree in Economics from Ca‘ Foscari University of Venice.
